About
Refugiul Maidanezilor
Since 2013,
We save souls and complete families
Behind this association is a small, fragile woman, with blue eyes hidden under a hat meant to protect her from the unfriendly sun. She, Mona Semeniuc, is the man from whom everything started, a tried but fearless soul in a crazy fight with the disease of the century and with an endless love for souls who cannot defend themselves.
Mona is an honest, loyal man, full of goodwill and determination, determined to wipe away her tears when a soul leaves her shelter - either in adoption or in another world; to break free from the helplessness or pain that sometimes overwhelms her and to carry out her mission to the end. Probably this is her mission if Mona overcame an extremely aggressive cancer, which she treated with the appropriate medication, which she endured with all the specific pains and consequences, but also with a lot of love and devotion to the dogs around the block where she lived. .
Since 2013, when the euthanasia law was passed, she has gathered all the dogs she cared for around her block and struggled just like a dog in the leash to save everything she could; since then, Mona Semeniuc no longer has a day off or a vacation, her family has understood that saving them matters a lot to her and they do everything they can to help her.
Since 2013, her roads are between the house, the shelter, the veterinary offices and the fields where she saves a troubled person. In all her appearances she told the truth that many of us know, that we did not save the dogs, but they saved us.
A good man will gather people like him to him. Whoever does not understand the spirit of the Shelter that saves souls comes and goes. Those who remain are a few, like her, dedicated and devoted, hoping to make, as much as we can, at least around us, a better world for both dogs and humans.

About the shelter
The shelter houses almost 300 dogs - adults, puppies and many old people; all gentle, sociable, longing for a caress, for interaction with people. Rescued from very difficult conditions or abandoned by their owners, the dogs in our shelter needed only a little love to forget the trauma and become the best and most friendly companions.
